animatedTabs Makes Distractions Fun

Do you do a lot of work on your computer?

Do you use Google Chrome?

Do you like to do a bit of procrastinating?

Do you find GIFs fun?

If you answered yes to all the questions above, then I'm sure you would love animatedTabs. It is a Google Chrome extension that gives you a "new GIF on every tab."

Opening a Google Chrome tab will give you a random GIF extracted from Reddit. Most of them are hilarious! Some are really fascinating. I remember a lot of times I just stare at the GIF on that new tab and I totally forget what link I was trying to open.

It is quite a time waster. But, it keeps me sane while working. Who doesn't like a bit of fun distraction anyway? :)

If you would like to test it out, you can check animatedTabs on this link to the Chrome Web Store.

Here are some of the fun GIFs I've saved.

Go check it out. Have fun opening new tabs!

My Google Community Summit Experience

I was fortunate enough to represent GBG Cagayan de Oro during the Google Community Summit Asia 2014. It was held in Sri Lanka and it was absolutely an amazing experience.

It was my first time to attend a summit this huge. There are many stories and memories that I could share. But, I can summarize them into these three.

Connecting with other managers

The summit was attended by the GBG and GDG managers of Asia. There were also Google Developer Experts. Not only did I get to connect and know some of them, I also had a multi-cultural experience. It was amazing. Talking to these people with different cultures widened my knowledge of the world.

Empowered and inspired

The summit was filled with keynotes, conferences, discussions and brainstorming. There was an overflow of brilliant ideas and I was there consuming every bit of knowledge I could get. I definitely learned a lot of things and I am very excited to share them with our local business community here in Cagayan de Oro.

A mini vacation

Aside from attending the summit, we were able to take some sidetrips in Bangkok (Thailand) and Colombo (Sri Lanka). These sidetrips only lasted for a few hours. But, they were absolutely enough to make this whole experience worthwhile.

I would like to thank my community manager, Jon for giving me this opportunity to represent our community in an Asian Summit. In case you do not know, I am the co-manager of the Google Business Group here in Cagayan de Oro, Philippines.

Also, props to Google for organizing events like this. It definitely empowers the awesome communities that they have already built.

This was definitely an experience I will never forget.

GBG Summit and gDayX Philippines

Last weekend, I was at Manila to attend two important events for the Google Business Group communities. As the Community Co-Manager of GBG Cagayan de Oro, I represented our chapter there.

First was the GBG Community Managers' Business Summit.

Google Business Group Summit

All the challenges faced by the GBG communities this year were discussed and a lot of exciting stuff were planned for the next year.

The day after that, we all attended gDayX Philippines at Xavier School, San Juan City.

gDayX Manila Philippines

Like all the other Google events, it was filled with so much learning and networking. Not only was I able to meet people from Google, I also got to talk to experts from different fields. It is pretty amazing to see how all these people use Google technologies for business success.

It is definitely exciting to live in such times where technology is playing a great part in making businesses and industries succeed. I am glad to be part of a community that helps people understand this.

It was indeed a memorable weekend. I am now back in Cagayan de Oro City and for sure, I will be sharing all the knowledge and experiences I acquired there to our very own community here.
