Is Yakimix worth it?

This eat and grill all you can restaurant has finally opened up its doors here in Cagayan de Oro city.

But for 599 pesos, is it actually worth it?  Would you spend that much for a meal?

Here is the breakdown of the rates:

  • 499 for lunch (except for public holidays and weekends)
  • 599 for dinner
  • 299 for Children below 4 feet
  • Children below 3 feet are FREE
  • When it's your birth month, bring 3 friends with you and you won't pay anything.

The last one is what I think most people take advantage of.

We went there for that reason. It was my girlfriend and her mother's birth month. We got a discount for the total price.

The food selection was great. Ambience is nice. Grilling is fun. Plus, they get to do this dance when it's your birthday:

But to answer the question of whether it's worth it or not -- it really depends on the person's appetite. :)

For me, it was not worth it.

I don't eat that much. I could stay there for 3 hours and still eat just 300 pesos worth of food. That's just too much money to shed on one meal.

For other people who have a bigger appetite, they can devour all they want. That 600 pesos will be very much worth it. They don't run out of food.

In the end, it's another great addition to the fancy lineup of restaurants in our ever developing city.

Life Goes By So Fast

Today, my nephew celebrated his 5th birthday.

He is a smart 5 year old and he definitely knows a lot of stuff already.

Together with his younger brother who is now 3 years old, these kids are growing up insanely fast.

It seems like it was just yesterday when they were still newborn babies and can't even talk.

Today, these kids can already make their own decisions and even reason out when they want to do something.

Apart from all the celebration we had today, I just realized how life goes by so fast.

Every day or every moment that I don't act on my goals or dreams is a wasted opportunity and there's nothing I can do to get those back.

So, while life goes on fast forward I better move.

Keeping Surprises a Secret

Probably one of the hardest things to do when pulling off a surprise is keeping it a secret.

Today, my brother's girlfriend surprised him with a party at home.

There was a lot of planning involved. Stories had to be made and there had to be some really good accomplices.

Not everything was kept a secret, as expected.

My brother may even had a hint that he was about to be surprised.

But, what matters is everyone actually had a great time. I'm pretty sure my brother was pretty happy nonetheless.

The surprise party was after all a success.

I'm Not Getting Any Younger

In one of his sermons, Pastor Brian Houston once said that “You know you are getting older when the things you want are the things that money cannot buy."

I just had an awesome birthday weekend. At 25 years old, I may not be that old but the things I already want and wish for are the things that money cannot buy.

This year, I never desired to receive any material gift. I just wanted happiness. That genuine and satisfying state of happiness we all desire for. And, I got to experience that.

I spent my Friday at a very relaxing place with my girlfriend and her family. It was a very much needed break from work and I got to breathe fresh air.

When I went home on Saturday, I was greeted by a surprise from the CFCI Youth family.

These kind of moments are priceless. The joy and gladness in my heart is overflowing right now. I feel so special and loved.

My short birthday weekend definitely made me realize that the things that money cannot buy are the ones that are worth asking for.

I am definitely not getting any younger. But, I could confidently say that God has made me contented with whatever He has given me right now.

Cheers to more years of happiness!
