The new iPod Nano and iPod Touch
Today’s Apple September Media Event was not just all about
the iPhone 5. As some of the rumors pointed out weeks ago, we were supposed to be
getting new iPods too -- and we did. Two of the iPod lines were given a cool
new refresh. The iPod Nano just got a little taller and sexier while the iPod
Touch was updated to make it more like a stripped down version of the new
iPhone 5. Here are the updates:
The new iPod Nano
The new Nano has become better in a lot of ways. Though it's not running on iOS, this iPod for casual music listeners (and joggers) out there now comes on a 2.5 inch multi touch display. That extra space is great for viewing all its built-in apps especially Music and Videos (yes, it can now play videos unlike the previous model). It's 5.4mm thin (about the size of a credit card) and it comes in these fancy colors you would surely love.
The New iPod Touch
As it always has been, the iPod Touch is just a stripped down version of the iPhone. Steve Jobs once called it "the iPhone without a contract." So, since the iPhone just got a cool new refresh, so should this trusty iPod - the best music player and mobile gaming device out there.
I'd like to think of it as the iPhone without a Phone. It basically sports the same features of a 'phone-less' iPhone 5 except with minor differences. It was updated to have the new aluminum body design (in different colors this time!) and the brilliant 4-inch Retina Display. The iSight camera is now 5MP (with LED flash) and can shoot 1080p HD video (the previous camera really sucked by the way). It is now also using the dual core A5 chip so expect it to be much faster and snappier.
The iPod Shuffle on the other hand, didn't get an upgrade. There's nothing much to upgrade with it at the moment I guess.
Anyway, the iPod line is getting better and will still get better in the coming years. I love these new improvements and it's so great to see how the iPod has improved for the last 11 years.

Great summary! Wasn't able to catch those bits when I skimmed through the keynote speech.
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback :)
Kuya Carlo, now I'm torn between investing on a new phone or the new itouch haha :D
Pearl! I suggest you go with the iPhone 5. It will really be worth it. :)
